Change of Strategy

I am a community activist within my constituency. I was a participant in the InterAction Leadership Programme in 2005.

As I was already active in the upliftment of the living standards within my community through lobbying and advocacy, the InterAction Leadership programme is an extra bonus towards my involvement in the community.

In October 2006 we had a scenario whereby I led a delegation to the Local Town Council. We went there to request them to do away with the bucket toilet system they had award a tender for. Throughout our deliberations, I made use of the skills that I had learnt through the InterAction Leadership Programme. Using the power of questioning I moved the Local town Councillors in the direction we wanted them to go. At the end, the tender was terminated and local councillors are currently working on the installation of hygienic toilet facilities. Throughout the lobbying process, I tried to do away with the political and tribal lines, which enabled the community to ‘interact” freely.

I give credit to the Pan African InterAction Leadership Programme as the journey that I walked with the programme has made a difference in my community work and changes are now more effective.
