People are mysteries - not problems
Chisomo Chimwaza

Participating in the Interaction program this year has had such a positive impact on my life. I now realise that I am able to achieve anything I put my mind to and have been  challenged to change my mindset.

Participating in the Interaction program this year has had a positive impact on my life. It has confirmed that I possess some vital leadership traits and if I maintain them, I will be able to achieve anything I put my mind to. It has also challenged me to change my mindset.

There is a saying that we learn best from what is working and that in every system or human being something works. This belief has really transformed my attitude in the work environment and in my other relationships. I build on this and fight the challenges. For instance, initially I viewed our financial sector as not conducive enough for business. I held on to this to the point that I thought we were at a dead end. In making contributions, I held on to the saying that we learn from our mistakes, hence when new proposals came I would shoot them down based on what did not work elsewhere. Now I take a different approach. I take time to note the good aspects of the proposal, the challenges that are in it, how such challenges were dealt with elsewhere and how best we can learn from that.

Secondly, I have been challenged to view people as mysteries to be explored and not problems to be solved. This has improved my ability to be less judgemental and more curious when I deal with people. Hence I have developed stronger relationships with my family, friends, colleagues and all other communities I interact with.

I have come to realise the impact of positive feedback. This has been instrumental in changing me as well as enabling me to help others. Being surrounded by the Interaction participants and facilitators and getting their feedback has given me so much life and energy and this will help me achieve a lot in future. I believe I will also have the same impact on others.

I could write a million pages about how Interaction has impacted on my life!
